Looking for an indie dance party? Want to rock out San Diego style? With a slew of upcoming shows and events, including a possible once-in-a-lifetime experience, your weekend is now packed. Macaulay Culkin won’t be home alone, and neither will you!
We’re all still waiting for Friday to get here, but in the meantime, a few alt rockers are making some heavy noise tonight at the Tin Can Alehouse. If you haven’t heard of Machines Learning, consider tonight your perfect opportunity to get better acquainted with some of the most electric alternative rock acts in So Cal right now. Taking on their own approach of modern grunge, Machines Learning has basically captured my inner 90s heart. This group seamlessly melds together major chords with edgy and driving rhythms that make it very easy to rock out or simply sit back and admire the sound. They’ll be sharing the stage with Bearcubbin’!, a sonic and unpredictable indie rock act that will keep you on your toes, and Crooked Rulers will bring out the mosh pit with their high-energy, punk-influenced tunes.
Check out the Facebook event page for more info about The Tin Can Alehouse and these acts, performing tonight.

This Friday, U-31 and Blk Owl are bringing you Macaulay Culkin’s band, The Pizza Underground, and you are not going to want to miss it. This group created a wave of internet attention due to their highly unusual choice of musical content, and they successfully gained a cult following of fans thanks to their slightly incoherent yet surreal and alluring performances. We’re not sure where the idea for a pizza-themed Velvet Underground cover band came from, but this event will be the only time you get to see or hear anything like it! Culkin gets to add “kazoo player” to his resume, and you get to hear Lou Reed songs re-imagined with an anti-folk feel.
Advanced tickets are available now for this Friday night event, which also includes DJ sets by Mike Turi and Kid Wonder.
For Fans Of: The Moldy Peaches, The Rutles, and of course, Velvet Underground
Sunday Funday anyone? ListenSD, in conjunction with FM 94/9 and Blk Owl, have you covered! Gardens & Villa are bringing the indie dance party to San Diego to what is sure to be a sold out event. Their soulful music molds together the soothing vocals of Chris Lynch with infectious 70’s dance inspired elements, all neatly packaged in a modern indie pop bow.
Tropical Popsicle will also be playing some psychedelic dance grooves (and pretty much win the award for cool band names), and a DJ set by COLOUR VISION should keep your feet moving.
ListenSD proves that you can still bring fun and packed shows to San Diego, and it’s also a one year anniversary bash for the San Diego music show.
